Social Media Marketing

Should I blog? What’s Twitter all about? Why wiki? Do I need an RSS feed on my website? How can a Facebook group help my organization? Is anybody really going to watch my YouTube video? These are questions every nonprofit organization and advocate should be able to answer.

Social media (sometimes referred to as “Web 2.0″) is one of the fastest-evolving phenomenoms of the Web; it refers primarily to Internet and mobile-based tools for sharing and discussing information, e.g., Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and digg.

If you’re not already there, 2009 should be the year that you put technology to work in fulfilling your organization’s mission.

Of course, like all successful communications tools and strategies, use of social media must be driven by the goals of the organization and the needs of its audiences. Emily Whitfield can advise you on how to use social media to create change.
